The Election Commission will scrutinise today all the 3056 nomination papers submitted by aspiring candidates across the country for contesting the upcoming parliamentary polls slated for December 30.
“All nomination papers from all political parties and other independent candidates would be scrutinized by today to contest the next parliamentary polls,” Joint Secretary of the EC SM Asaduzzaman told Bangladesh Post on Saturday.
The returning officers will scrutinise the documents, he added.
If any aspirant provides false and wrong information their nomination paper, their nomination would be cancelled, he also said.
All the registered political parties including Awami League, BNP, Jatiya Party and others have submitted their nomination papers to the Election Commission office in their respective areas for participating in the elections.
After the scrutiny, candidates can withdraw their nomination paper by December 9. The polls symbol would be provided on December 10 for holding election campaigning.
Meanwhile, BNP delegations on Saturday met with the Election Commission about discussing the overall situation of the upcoming parliamentary polls.
The BNP delegation was led by its standing committee member Moudud Ahmed. Awami League delegation will meet the EC at around 11:00am today.
