Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said that quota system is a right for differently-abled people and therefore no option to exclude them from the right, reports BSS.
“The government formulated law to ensure the rights and security of the specially-abled people in 2013…So, there is no scope to exclude them from quota system now,” he said.
Menon said this while speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable discussion at National Press Club organised by “Bangladesh Protibondhi Shikhharthi Oikkyo Parishad” in the city, said a press release. There is a provision to provide them special opportunity in educational institutions and government jobs, he added.
Convener of the Parishad Ali Hossain presided over the programme while Additional Secretary of the ministry Shushanto Kumer Pramanik was present.
Chairman of Department of Special Education under the Institute of Education and Research (IER) in Dhaka University Dr Mohamad Mahbubur Rahman presented the key-note paper at the programme.
