No case was filed and none was arrested so far in connection with Saturday’s death of a Juba League leader in a factional clash between supporters of two local leaders of Awami League at Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi.
Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagmara Police Station told The Bangladesh Post that filling a case was underway in this connection till making the report at 6:30pm on Monday. He also said that in this connection, they detained AL Taherpur municipality unit joint-general secretary Mahbubur Rahman, adding that they have been trying to arrest others culprits.
The Taherpur municipal unit JL executive member Chanchal Kumar, 40, succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical Collage and Hospital (RMCH) on Saturday afternoon. He was critically in injured in a clash between the supporters of local lawmaker Enamul Haque and Taherpur municipal mayor Abul Kalam Azad centering nomination. Chanchal along with five others were admitted to RMCH after they received injuries Following the incident, the leaders and activists of AL municipality unit and the Hindu community’s people of the municipality brought out a protest procession at Taherpur bazar demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the attackers.
