Jatiya Oikyafront chief Dr Kamal Hossain on Saturday said there is no alternative to elections to keep up democracy and people’s empowerment.
“There is no alternative to polls to establish people’s rights and maintain democracy,” Kamal, also president of Gonoforum, said this while addressing a press conference at Jatiya Press Club, reports BSS.
Dr Kamal said the Jatiya Oikyafront would finalize its nomination list after proper scrutiny.
Replying to a query he urged the election commission to hold the upcoming generation election in a neutral and fair manner. “The next national election is very important before celebrating the golden jubilee of independence in 2021,” he added.
The Jatiya Oikyafront chief called upon the election commission to ensure equal facilities for all candidates participating in the polls.
“The election commission has to ensure environment for all polling agents so that they can perform their duties without fear,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged political leaders to show restrain while delivering political speeches.
