Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton stressed on cordial relation development between technical institutions and industries for providing time-befitting technical teaching to the students and employment.
He viewed that need-based vocational training for the youths coming from poor families is very important and their post-training employment is also vital for eradicating their unemployment problem.
He expressed this observation while addressing the closing session of a daylong job fair-2018 in the city on Sunday.
Rajshahi Regional Office of UCEP Bangladesh organized the fair at its technical school premises.
Among others Ward Councilor Umme Shalma Bulbuli, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman, UCEP Regional Manager Shantara Islam and local unit president of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh Anjuman Ara Parveen also addressed the meeting.
Mayor Liton said expansion and promotion of technical and vocational education and training among the youths both male and female is critically important for transforming them into skilled human resources.
He viewed expanded technical education could be effective means of building competent and skilled human resources and its role is very vital for substantial and sustainable growth of national economy.
Liton added that the present government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attached top priority to the technical education. It has set target to upgrade the technical education to 20 percent by 2020.
