First ever national convention in the field of human resources under the title ‘UIU National HR Convention’ was held on 24 November 2018 from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC), Dhaka. The theme of the convention was “Human resources for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
The state minister of Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque was present as the chief guest in the inaugural session. He said, “This convention will be a great platform to learn and share the practices, policies and strategies for human resource development of Bangladesh.”
Present as the special guest, Faridur Rahman Khan, Vice-Chairman, BoT-UIU and Managing Director of United Hospital Limited, said in his speech, “Only capable and dynamic people can make differences in the changing business environment and this sort of convention will help to achieve the SDGs.”
“Modern HRM plays a strategic role in managing people and the workplace culture and environment,” Professor Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, UIU said being present as the other special guest.
Leyla Nascimento, President, World Federation of People Management Association (WFPMA) was present as a yet another special guest while Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family was present as the guest of honour. Abul Kalam Azad, Chief coordinator for SDG affairs, Prime Minister Office and other globally reputed personalities delivered their presentations in different sessions throughout the day. The program was jointly organized by six reputed organizations where 500 participants from the corporate world were present.
