State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Saturday asked all concerned to supply uninterrupted electricity to consumers.
He made the urge while addressing a two-day General Managers’ conference of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board as chief guest in the city.
The government’s great achievement in the power sector will fade away, if hassle-free power supply to consumers is not ensured, he added.
For this, the state minister asked all the general managers of BREB to be more sincere and cautious for harassment-free power supply to customers.
He said, “We have to provide more services to the people during the election year. To this end, we are implementing different projects like construction of sub-stations and bringing changes in overloaded transformers.
During this time, he also expressed satisfaction over the work for 100 percent power coverage under BREB.
Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus said that the theme of this conference is “harassment-free power commitment”. So everyone should be alert to ensure this theme and prevent corruption in the field. Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board Chairmen Major General Moin Uddin (retd) made a power point presentation on financial, technical and managerial activities at the programme.
Among others, PDB Chairman Engineer Khaled Mahmud, BREB Member (Administration) and Additional Secretary Md Yakub Ali Patwari, Power Cell Director General Engineer Mohammad Hossain, Managing Director of PGCB Masum-Al-Beruni, Ozopadiko Managing Director Md. Shafiq Uddin also spoke on the occasion.
Senior general managers, general managers of 80 franchises of Bangladesh Palli Biddyut Samity, including senior officials of BREB, attended the conference.
In the conference, the state minister handed over purification certificates to BREB member (distribution and management) Md Mostafa Kamal, senior general manager of Mymensingh Palli Biddyut Samity-2 Zahirul Islam and BREB worker Shamsul Huda Chowdhury for their best performances in rendering their respective duties.
The conference reviewed the new APA target of the fiscal year 2018-2019 and the acquisition of the previous year’s APA.
At the programme, the target to ensure cent percent electrification in all the upazilas and various issues are also discussed.
