Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and MP of Chandpur-3 constituency Dr Dipu Moni has said that Imams of mosques play vital role in the society. They are important members of the society and they can change the society through their work, she added.

Dipu Moni, also former foreign affairs minister, said these while speaking as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting with the Imams of Jame Mosques at Kadam Tala of Chandpur on Saturday.

She said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina never abuses power. She thinks it is her responsibility. She has been working for the welfare of the people. Allah has kept her alive to work for the welfare of the people despite 21 assassination attempts. She regularly prays Tahajjud and also prays for peace, discipline and prosperity of the country.”

District Awami League General Secretary Muktijoddha Alhaj Abu Naeem Patwari Dulal, Senior Vice President Dr. J.R. Wadud Tipu were present among others.

Khatib Maulana Mohammad Hashanuzzaman of Baitul Aman Jame Mosque of Rampur Union spoke on behalf of the Imams. Imams of Jame Mosques of Bishnupur, Kalyanpur, Shahmahududpur, Rampur, Balia, Laxmipur Model, Ibrahimpur, Chandra, Harnachar and Rajarajesh of Sadar upazila were present in the view exchange meeting.

On the occasion of the jail killing of the martyrs, prayers were performed for the departed souls Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Mansur Ali and AHM Kamruzzaman.
