Teachers and senior journalists on Thursday urged the media to play important role in order to resist violence, extremism and evil forces.
Besides, experts asked all to remain alert to thwart fundamentalists and evil forces from creating any conflicting situation in the country centring.
They were addressing a roundtable conference styled ‘Role of Media to Prevent Violent Extremism’ at CIRDAP auditorium in Dhaka.
Dhaka University former chancellor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said, “Media can play a vital role in changing social and cultural outlook. The newspaper and journalists must remain alert whether the objectivity of a news story is distorted.”
Addressing as a chief guest, Prime minister’s media advisor Iqbal sobhan chowdhury said, “Extremism community emerges by the patronization of political party. However, people are always aware against kind of extremism.”
To prevent extremism, Iqbal sobhan chowdhury said that every political party should express their clear stance in election manifestos.
At the programme, a book has also unwrapped titled ‘Sohingsho Ugrobad Protirodh: Gonomaddhom Sohayika’.
