Malaysian Defense Minister Haji Mohammed Sabu, while expressing his feelings after visiting Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar Thursday night, agreed that the Rohingyas were tortured, and passing their days in an inhuman condition.
“The Bangladesh government has given shelter to the Rohingyas made landless by the Myanmar government, and has set an example of humanity by helping the Rohingyas live.”
Speaking at the Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport VIP lounge, Haji Mohammed Sabu also expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh government and the people for creating an extraordinary example of humanity in giving shelter to the helpless Rohingyas.
He further said, “The Malyasian government will always stand beside the Bangladesh government and the people.”
He handed over 12.23 MT relief materials to Chattogram Divisional Commissioner, Abdul Manan, for the Rohingyas.
Abdul Manan received the relief and said, “The Malyasian government has sent a total of 300 MT of relief for the Rohingya people in the last 10 months. On behalf of Bangladesh, I thank the people and government of Malaysia for being with Bangladesh in the Rohingya crisis.”
The defence minister arrived Cox’s Bazar at 2pm Thursday, visited Rohingya camps and returned to Chattogram at night. He handed over relief materials for the Rohingyas to the administration of Chattogram division.
At the time, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammed Ilias Hossain was also present.
