A devastating fire erupted at a lubricant warehouse of Asian industries group at Nandalalpur area under Fatulla model police station in the district on Saturday, causing losses worth more than a crore of taka.
Eight units of fire brigade and civil defense of Narayanganj doused fire after hectic efforts of three and half hours.
Deputy director of Narayanganj fire service Arefin Siddik told the Bangladesh Post Saturday afternoon that the actual reason behind the blazing could not be known yet.
He added that it is our assumption that fire might have originated from electric short circuit.
Afzal Khan, an importer of lubricants, said that the losses might amount to more than Tk 10 millions.
Inspector Golam Mostofa of Fatulla model thana said that the fire was brought under control by 3.30 pm and the amount of losses would be assessed soon.
