Virat Kohli unbeaten 61 helps India beat Australia by six wickets in the third Twenty-20 in Sydney to draw the series 1-1. One-third of India’s tour of Australia is completed as both teams share the T20 series since the second game in Melbourne was called off due to rain. India came into the game to maintain defeat less streak in the T20 series in recent times, reports agencies.
Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat first in brighter conditions in Sydney Cricket Ground. The visitors continued with the same playing XI while the hosts had a change as Mitchell Starc came into the side.
Both the Australian openers got off to a good start and looked dangerous with a fifty partnership. For men in blue their prime spinner, Kuldeep Yadav gave the first breakthrough in the form of Aaron Finch’s wicket and dragged India into the game.
After a mean time, Krunal Pandya got two wickets in two balls in the likes of D Arcy Short and Ben Mcdermott. But the off-spinner missed the hat-trick chance.
After two productive overs from spinners, India kept taking wickets in regular intervals.
Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey played a decent cameo at the end with 25 runs and 27 runs respectively and that guided Australia to 164 at the end of their innings. In the bowling chart, Krunal Pandya was highlighted with four wickets.
In reply, India were asked to chase 165 runs to level the series. Like the Aussie openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan got off to a good start with a fifty partnership. After the good start, Shikhar Dhawan was the first one to go.
In the very next over, Rohit Sharma was trapped by Adam Zampa with a flipper and the score remained the same between the two wickets. The two back to back wickets made the game wide open.
KL Rahul also ended the series with full disappointment as he scored only 14 runs in the 20 balls he faced, Rishab Pant also returned to the pavilion with a golden duck and left the team in the middle with the skipper Virat Kohli.
Since then Dinesh Karthik joined with the skipper and built the duo built the chase for men in blue. The duo added 60 runs for the fifth wicket and took the team over the line. Kohli and Karthik remained unbeaten on 61 and 22 respectively.
Alas, India won the match by six wickets. With this win, India leveled the three-match T20I series 1-1 as the second match was called off due to rain in MCG.
