On 11 March, Jahangirnagar University (JU), the Embassy of Japan and Japanese Universities Alumni Association Bangladesh jointly organized a seminar on ‘Study in Japan 2019’ at the university premise. The seminar provided useful information on higher education in Japan, including the Japanese government scholarship (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; MEXT Scholarship), study and life in Japan as well as its advantages. More than 160 students and young faculty members of JU participated in this seminar.
Two speakers from the university who recently completed their degrees in Japan spoke about their study experiences and daily life as a foreign student in Japan.
Over 5 decades, Japan has been providing government scholarship to more than 4,000 Bangladeshis. In 2018 alone, more than 120 Bangladeshi students received this government-funded scholarship and are now studying in Japan on various academic fields. The scholarship application opens twice a year in mid-April (Embassy recommendation) and October (University recommendation).
