Eminent journalist, writer and Managing Editor of Bangla-desh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Shahriar Shahid was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Doukar Char village under Raipura upazila in Narsingdi on Monday.
Before his burial, several namaz-e-janaza were held in Dhaka and the village home. His body was brought to his workplace BSS, National Press Club and the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) for last respect. The namaz-e-janaza was held at DRU at about 11.30 am. Journalists, relatives and admirers attended the janaza at the National Press Club. Among them Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique.
His last namaz-e-janaza was held after Maghrib prayers at his village home and later he was buried beside the graves of his father famous journalist Shahidul Haque.
