The authorities of Jhenidah Government Veterinary College have closed the college sine die. The students were asked to vacate the residential halls.
The decision came when the students had been demanding to enroll the college under the faculty of Jashore Science and Technology University.
A number of students of the college on Friday noon said the department of livestock had been assuring them to take necessary steps to consider the demand of the students, while no effective measure was taken in long time. Finding no other alternatives, the agitated students have demonstrating in the college campus. They also locked the main gate of the college. Dome of the students were injured during clashes among the students.
Dr. Amalendu Ghosh, acting principal of Jhenidah Government Veterinary College, said finding no other alternative, they talked to the authorities and closed the college for an indefinite period. They asked the students to leave the campus by noon without fail.
