Over 50 students of Islamic University in Kushtia on Saturday formed a human chain in front of the university’s administrative building demanding exemplary punishment of a teacher of Finance and the Banking department for his alleged sexual harassment of a girl of the department.
The speakers of the human chain demanded of authorities concerned to take action against the accused teacher within 24 hours.
It was alleged that Sanjoy Kumar, Assistant Professor of Finance and Banking department, sexually harassed a second year female student of his department while she refused bad proposals from her teacher for several times, said the victim’s family and students of the university.
Kumar harassed the girl by failing in his course for two times after supplementary exams whereas she also faced illegal questions in her 3rd semester viva voce.
Besides, some students of the university also formed a human chain at the premises of central library on the campus, protesting attack on quota reformists.
As per of the movement, students of various department suspended their scheduled classes and exams.
