The Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia observed its 40th university day and 39th founding anniversary on Thursday, organising a wide range of programmes on the campus amid much fanfare and festivity.
The programme included hoisting the national and university flag, bringing out a colourful procession that paraded the main streets of the campus, a discussion, a doa mahfil and a cultural programme at at Bir Shrestha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium on the campus.
Marking the day, the university vice-chancellor Prof Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag and Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag atop the administrative building in the morning.

The hall provosts of all residential halls also hoisted the national flag and university flag in front of each hall.

A discussion programme was held later at the Bir-Shrestha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium of the university with IU VC in the chair.
Pro-vice-chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, Acting registrar S M Abdul Latif were present as special guests.

A cultural programme was then held by various departments’ students of the university at the auditorium.
When contracted, IU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Askari said, “We want to grow Islamic University as a world class university and to mark its 40th found anniversary, we would like to request all concerned students, teachers and employees to work together.”
