F11 See Sharp’ an Inter University Photography Exhibition by Independent University Photography Club (IPC) begins yesterday on November 23, 2018 at the capital’s Drik Gallery in Dhanmondi.
With the theme ‘As the world turn’ in mind, the exhibition portrays a change of generation. ‘F11 See Sharp’ explores sharply the meaning of truth, reality and trust usually associated with the medium of photography. Questioning the choice and framing of subject matters and the circulation of the images and the context within which they are seen, artists confront the meaning of their photographic practice and the extent to which trust plays a sharp role in the way their work is perceived.
The exhibition was opened by the guest of honour and renowned Wildlife photographer Kudrat E Khoda around 3 pm. After conducting the opening ceremony, he inspected the photographs displayed and then went on to conduct a small discussion among the members of IPC and photographers whose work was on display. In the session, he stressed the importance of photography in this day and age and urged photographers to improve and hone their skills by snapping pictures as much as possible.
Enamul Hasan a student of Media and Communication and IPC member stated, “We wanted to conduct this exhibition back in 2014. But due to various circumstances, we were unable to do it. Slowly we started to explore. Many of our members got admitted here in Pathshala and at the same time, we gave conducted various sessions for the club with the skills and knowledge we gained from Pathshala. After that, we initially started with intra-university exhibitions. After a while, we finally decided to hold an interuniversity one and called for photographers to submit their work from different universities. We are satisfied with the work we have done for this exhibition, but there is still a long way to go.”
Participants from several universities have submitted over 1748 photos. Out of which 63 photographs were selected which were displayed in the exhibition. The judges of the selection panel included Tanvir Murad Topu, head of photography department, Pathshala and Syed Latif Hossain, pioneer photographer and faculty at Counter Foto.
The exhibition will also be held on 26th November at IUB campus.
