The International Human Rights Day was observed in the country on Monday as elsewhere across the globe with the theme “Stand Up For Human Rights”.
The day is observed across the world on December 10 every year. The date was chosen to honour the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10 in 1948.
Different socio-political organisations arranged elaborate programmes to observe the day.
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) brought out a rally from Central Shaheed Minar. The rally ended in front of the National Press Club.
Human Rights Review Society arranged a discussion at the National Museum. Former secretary Syed Margub Murshed and others attended the event.
Human Aid and Trust International also brought out a rally in the city marking the day.
