The International Anti-Corruption Day-2018 was observed in the country as well as across the world on Sunday. Different socio-cultural organizations arranged elaborate progra­mmes marking the day
Dhaka divisional office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) brought out a colourful rally in the city. ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud led the rally.
The ACC also arranged a discussion to mark the day. Iqbal Mahmud inaugurated the event, while Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain spoke it as the chief guest.
In his speech, Syed Mahmud Hossain said that the corruption has become a national malady which is creating discrimination in society. “Corruption has destroyed the spirit of the independence war and dreams of freedom. Everyone must boycott corruption, and denounce it together,” he said.
The Chief Justice also said that corruption can be reined in through a social movement of patriotism.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) brought out a colourful rally in the city marking the day. DNCC’s acting mayor and councilor joined the rally.
The Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) formed a human chain at TSC on Dhaka University campus to observe the day.
