A three-daylong international tradeshows was inaugurated at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Thursday. Futurex Trade Fair and Events Private Limited of India and ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd of Bangladesh jointly organised the event.

Over 200 organizations, from home and abroad gathered under one roof in Dhaka to display latest technologies, products, and solutions on architecture and construction at three exhibitions titled the 4th Bangladesh Buildcon 2018, the Green Arch 2018 and the 4th Bangladesh Wood International Expo 2018.
The three-day long three international tradeshows started at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Thursday.
The event, organised jointly by Futurex Trade Fair and Events Private Limited of India and ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd of Bangladesh is also displaying global standard furniture crafted in the country.
Nonda K Gopal in his welcome speech said, participants at the exhibition would receive opinion from visitors, participants and from business people too. A good number of foreign and local people gathering at the expo would gain knowledge on how to develop more on certain areas. Convener of international conference on Green Architecture Dr Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed laid the important to acquire know-how on green technologies as it would help building the country. Rapid population growth is a challenge for accommodation in the coming days. It is good to know that Sonali Bank developed a new scheme for housing in the rural areas. Bangladesh Bank is also keen to invest in the green technology, he added.
Architectural hardware and products, building materials, MEP services, ready mix concrete equipment, sustainable architecture, woodworking machinery, furniture hardware, power tool, fittings and fixtures, laminates, boards, coating, abrasives and adhesives are being displayed in the expo.
On the sideline of the tradeshows, seminars will be held all three days where eminent speakers will share their ideas. A seminar on “Alternative and Affordable Green Technology” was held on Thursday where Md Abu Sadeq, former director of House Building Research Institute (HBRI) and Dr Toufiq M Seraj, founder managing director of Sheltech (Pvt) Ltd delivered speeches.
The 2nd edition of international conference on Green Architecture 2018 will be held today 9Friday) where Ar Luis Longhi Traverso of Longhi Architects, Peru, Prof Shamsul Wares, Eminent Architect of Bangladesh, Dr Cristian Suau will present keynote topics.
Studio POP, CIC, Scotland and Tai Lee Siang, immediate past chair of World Green Building Council. Paralell Technical Sessions will be held tomorrow (Saturday) for focusing important themes such as “Affordable and Clean Energy”, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, “Responsive Consumption and Production”.
Dr Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, AGM of JAT Holdings Bangladesh (Pvt) Ltd, Jalal Ahmed, vice chairman (import and admin) of Institute of Architects Bangladesh, Salim H Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Furniture Malik Samity, Mohammad Shamin Akhter, director of Housing and Building Research Institute, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The exposition is open for all everyday from 11am to 7pm.
