For the second consecutive year Huawei feature in the annual ranking of ‘The World’s Most Valuable Brands 2018’ compiled by Forbes. Huawei is the only Chinese company ranking 79th with a brand value of US$8.4 billion.
Huawei entered the list for the first time in 2017 and ranked 88 th with a brand value of US$7.3 billion. After a year of rapid development, Huawei’s brand value increased by 15 percent.
Technology companies continue to dominate the list by taking the 20 percent of the TOP 100 spots. The year 2017 has seen Huawei achieving a rapid global development driven by the full range of its products featuring the Mate, P and Nova series. The launch of the Huawei P10 and Mate10 series helped to build Huawei’s premium reputation and increased influence in the high-end handset market.
Huawei’s continuous growth in the global market and its increasing brand influence has benefited from its multi-year commitment to technology innovation and research and development (R&D) investment.
According to Huawei’s annual report, Huawei’s R&D investment for 2017 was RMB 89.7 billion, accounting for approximately 14.9 percent of the revenue, and the accumulated R&D expenses over the past ten years exceeded RMB 394 billion.
