Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Tuesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Rangpur Divisions in the next 24 hours ending at 2 pm Tuesday, reports BSS.
“Southwest monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay… The well marked low over Northwest Jharkhand and adjoining area moved northwestwards and now lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh,” said a weather bulletin on Tuesday morning.
“The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal and thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh while one of its associated troughs extends upto North Bay,” the bulletin added.
Due to the situation, heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (>89mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur Chattogram, Khulna,Barishal, Sylhet, Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Rangpur Divisions during next 24 hrs.
