The ‘Group Theatre Day’ (the founding anniversary of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation) was observed in the capital on Wednesday in a befitting manner.
Several hundred theatre activists brought out a colourful procession at the Baily Road in the capital. Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation chairman Liaquat Ali Lucky, General Secretary Kamal Bayazid and others led the procession.
The procession starts from Baily Road covering other part of the city ended on the National Theatre premises at Segunbagicha.
For especial contribution in the theatre makeup artist Bangyjit Dutt and photographer Sirajul Islam were given posthumous group theater award.
The Group Theatre after establishing in 1980 is celebrating its 38th year in the country. The BGTF has been playing an important role in the drama movement since its inception. This is also known as the parent organization of all group theatre in the country. At present it has more than 300 dramatic organizations is associated with this federation.
