Youths, students, teachers and common people take part in ‘Green Tetulia, Clean Tetulia’ beautification campaign on Thursday. Upazila Chairman Rezaul Karim Shahin and UNO Saniul Ferdous also plant saplings.

The ‘Green Tetulia, Clean Tetulia’ beautification campaign was launched aiming at turning Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh into a climate resilient, green and clean area with eye-catching looks all-around.
The upazila administration in association with local socio-cultural and professional organisations launched the campaign on Thursday through planting over 600 saplings in roadside areas on the first day.
Wearing green-coloured T-shirts, hundreds of youths, students, teachers, socio-cultural and professional activists, freedom fighters, teachers and common people took part in the programme.
Tetulia Upazila Chairman Rezaul Karim Shahin and Upazila Vice- chairman Sultana Razia, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Saniul Ferdous, Awami League leader Kazi Mahmudur Rahman Dablu, former Upazila Muktijoddha Commander Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, Upazila Engineer Samin Shariar Fuad, among others, planted saplings with the common people. Under the campaign, 10,000 saplings will be planted in the six-kilometer roadside areas of the Tetulia-Banglabandha highway’ from Tetulia Rest House to Nazrul Swarani in the first phase.
“Besides, thousands of decorative tree saplings will be planted on the sides of all roads to make the upazila green, clean and enhance natural beauty with greenish looks all over to attract tourists,” UNO Md Saniul Ferdous. He also said that successful implementation of the campaign would definitely enhance natural beauty in Tetulia upazila to promote tourism side by side with ensuring safer movement of people and vehicles on the roads and highways.
Rezaul Karim said mobile court, fire service and civil defense personnel and highway police would have vigilance to keep roadside areas clean and safer for movement of the people and vehicles. “The example set up by the people of Tetulia might be a milestone in turning beautification of the nature through tree plantation into a popular social movement to build a green, clean and climate resilient Bangladesh for improving environment,” he said.
