It has been a long journey for Aarong with many ups and downs, as they move to the magical number 40. The four decade long journey has seen Aarong transform into a household name with them also gaining international recognition.
To celebrate this memorable milestone, Aarong kicked off its ‘Aarong 40 Years Festival’, a three day event at the capital’s Army Stadium on October 25. The ‘Aarong 40 Years Festival’ is open to public, and it celebrates the rich heritage of Bangladeshi local handmade crafts and its artisans. Asaduzzaman Noor, Minister, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Chairman, BRAC, Tamara Hasan Abed, Senior Director, BRAC were present at the inauguration ceremony.
The festival included a unique exhibition of local crafts which included a live demonstration by artisans. Day one saw the inauguration and presentation of the producer’s award, followed by a live performance by the evergreen Runa Laila.
Day 2 will showcase a gala fashion show, featuring designs from Taaga, Taaga Man and Herstory, alongside a solo musical performance by the ravishing Elita Karim. The final day will see musical night performances by James, Joler Gaan, Nemesis and Minar.
