A German parliamentary delegation comprising Gabriele Katzmarek, Bettina Stark-Watzinger and Tobias Pfluger visited Beximco Industrial Park on Tuesday.
Deputy Head of Mission the German Embassy in Bangladesh and high officials of embassy and GIZ, a German agency which partners with the German government and stakeholders both at public and private in areas of economic development, employment promotion, energy and the environment, also accompanied.
A.S.F. Rahman, Beximco Group Chairman and Syed Naved Husain, CEO & Group Director, Beximco welcomed the delegation at the park, said a press release.
The high level German delegation visited all textiles and apparel manufacturing units of BEXIMCO which employs 40,000 personnel in a 350-acre campus with 200,000 trees and a wild life sanctuary.
They also took keen interest in Beximco’s R&D, Design & Product Development resources and global reach to service some of the world’s Gold Standard retailers like Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Zara, Marks & Spencer, Next and C&A, the biggest retailer of Germany.
Beximco partnered with GIZ who provided technical support to induct 500 disabled personnel into the country’s regular workforce. The Beximco-GIZ Collaborative Inclusive Workforce Project has been greatly successful and Beximco was rewarded with PLATINUM WINNER award for “Inclusive Skill Development (Star Factory) during the 2nd Social and Environmental Excellence Award -2014. A total of 500 disabled personnel are now working full time and go home proud of doing excellent jobs.
