In a bid to attract more customers at the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair, leading furniture companies have come up with an exciting price discount on a whole new range of products with different sizes and designs. They are offering up to 35 per cent price cut on a total of 300 models of their products.
The furniture makers have also set up a number of display outlets that ooze fashion and modernity in a gorgeous style. Leading furniture makers Partex, Hatil, Navana, Akhter, Regal, Brothers and Delta, to name but a few, brought different types of bed, almirah, wardrobe, door, sofa, drawing table, dressing table, tea table and so on made of wood, plywood as well as board.
Even many companies are offering equal monthly installment (EMIs) facility to sell their products to customers of all income groups. On the sixth day of the fair on Monday, furniture pavilion owners expressed satisfaction with the turnout of the crowd in the furniture zone.
However, sales did not perk up as per expectation of the fair authorities.
A number of pavilion-in-charges told Bangladesh Post that they have participated in the trade show mainly for wooing visitors to the roll-out of their new, custom-made products.
Customers are also happy, as they find all companies in a certain area to compare the quality, variations and the price of products, said they.
Imrose Rine, a customer who bought a dressing table from the fair, told that she was satisfied as she could buy a new product at an affordable rate, after comparing quality and discount offered by many companies.
Ashok Kumar, senior manager of retail sales of Partex, told Bangladesh Post that they have arranged their products focusing on the interest of both middle and higher class consumers.
“Almost 90 per cent of products, including home furniture, we have brought here are new to fulfill customer needs,” he added.
Soaib Hossain, head of operations and pavilion-in-charge of Regal Furniture, said, “We are offering 7 to 20 per cent discount on each product, including a 3-day-two-night Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka trip for a couple who can avail it by winning a lottery every day.”
“Various types of bed, sofa, sofa-bed, dining table, dressing table, wardrobe, bookshelf, and study table are being showcased at the pavilion,” he said.
Hatil, another premier furniture company, has displayed several items, including bed, double sofa, single sofa, tea-table, dressing table, drawing table, wardrobe, TV trolley and suchlike products.
Laila Israt Jahan, pavilion-in-charge of Hatil, said they have set the price of their products with a big discount of 5-15 per cent on occasion of the fair.
Hatil has brought an innovative sofa named ‘Knock Down Sofa’ which is very flexible, and its cover can be changed and washed any time, she added.
Firoz Zaman, pavilion-in-charge and a senior executive of Navana Furniture, said the company is offering 10 to 15 per cent discount on its products, starting from sofa sets, dining sets, beds and chest of drawers to dressing and bedside tables.
Besides, customers can purchase products with up to 18 EMIs through credit cards of 18 listed banks from the pavilion.
However, Nadia’s pavilion-in-charge Headaeth Ullah said they have brought 70 per cent new items in the fair, with an offer up to 15 percent cash back, and they are trying to be the leading company focusing on the local customers.
