Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Thursday urged all Bangladesh missions abroad to keep their consular services open for 24 hours.
The foreign minister sent letters to all heads of the missions abroad to this end, a foreign affairs ministry press release said.
In the letter, he also directed the mission heads to create a database of the Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) as per their professions in the respective countries.
The foreign minister said it is necessary to take steps to bring positive changes at receptions and consular service rooms of the missions for improving the consular services.
He also directed all the missions to be sincere in improving consular and other services for the expatiate Bangladeshis.
Momen said remittance and foreign investment would increase if the NRBs are involved in the country’s overall development process.
“In this regard, the success depends much on creating friendly relations with the NRBs through delivering proper services,” he said.
