The freedom fighters will get free medical treatment facilities up to Tk 50,000 in upazila, district, divisional and specialised government hospitals in the country.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will provide the advance amount of Tk 10 to Tk 15 lakh in those hospitals to ensure the healthcare services for the freedom fighters.
To this end, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry and the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Sunday signed an agreement.
Sirajul Haque Khan, secretary to Health Ministry, and Apurup Chowdhury, secretary to Liberation War Affairs Ministry, signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides at the health ministry’s conference room in the city.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque were present on the occasion. AKM Mozammel Haque said, “We will keep advance Tk 15 lakh to 14 specialised hospitals for the treatment of the freedom fighters. Besides, according to the number of freedom fighters, we will provide Tk 10 to Tk 15 lakh to the upazilas, districts and divisional hospitals”
A freedom fighter will get medical assistance up to Tk 50,000 from the initiative of the government, the minister added.
After assuming power, the incumbent government increased facilities for freedom fighters for upholding the spirit of War of Liberation, said Health Minister Mohammad Nasim.
Against this backdrop, each freedom fighter is getting TK 10,000 per month and they are also getting bonuses during both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.
The government is also planning bonuses on the occasions of Victory Day, Independence Day and Pahela Baishakh, said sources.
