Fatima Sana Shaikh may only be a couple of films old in the industry, but she’s managed to impress the biggest of actors and directors with her work. She made a smashing Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ (2016), and then worked with him again in ‘Thugs of Hindostan’(TOH). Though TOH bombed at the box office, her performance was lauded and praised. But now she is being considered to be cast opposite Bollywood’s King Shah Rukh Khan in Anurag Basu’s star-studded ‘Salute’, the biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
‘Salute’ will feature Superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role of Rakesh Sharma, the Air Force officer turned astronaut. The film is expected to begin its shooting in February. The story has been one of the most inspiring ones and seeing SRK slip into the role of the character will be so much fun to watch.
Reports suggest that the filmmakers like her work and she is a lead contender for the role. Recently, the actress had admitted that she was dying to work with Shah Rukh Khan, and that being around him makes her nervous.
‘Salute’ is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
Meanwhile, Fatima has also bagged the sequel to ‘Life in a Metro’, directed by Anurag Basu. Confirming the news, she said, “As soon as I heard that Anurag Basu was making a movie, and was interested in casting me, I was excited. I didn’t care about the script. There are some directors whose worlds you simply wish to be part of, adding that apart from Basu, Rajkumar Hirani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s offerings are those she would “shut my eyes and say yes to.”
It’s no secret that Fatima considers Aamir her guide, mentor and close friend. However, she revealed that while she discusses work and scripts with Aamir Khan, she doesn’t ask him about her prowess as an actress. “We talk about scripts and characters, but I won’t ask him what I am lacking in as an actor,” she said.
