A four-member delegation of the European Parliament led by Henri Malosse met Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at his residential office on the campus on Wednesday.
Other members of the delegation were Ryszard Czarnecki, Agnicszka Scigaj and Madhu Sharma.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Md Abdul Aziz, Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof Dr Md Rahmat Ullah, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science Prof Dr Sadeka Halim, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr M Imdadul Hoque, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof Dr SM Abdur Rahman and Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal were also present at the time.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including woman empowerment, gender equality, secularism and overall socioeconomic development in Bangladesh.
Prof Akhtaruzzaman apprised the EU delegation of a brief history of Dhaka University as well as its academic, research, cultural and social activities.
He said, “We are relentlessly working to create skilled human resources and global standard graduates at the university. We always try to maintain communal harmony and social stability,” he said.
