Forest officials recovered the body of an elephant from Gurucharan-Dudhnoi area at Jhenaigati upazila in Sherpur on Thursday.
On information, a team of forest department recovered the body at about 7:00 am, said Md Ashraful Alam, beat officer of Tawakucha beat of Forest Department in Jhenaigati upazila.
The elephant, aged around 14/15 years, has tusks around one foot, said the forest official.
“The exact reason behind death of the male elephant could not be known immediately.
There was no injury mark in its body,” he said.
He further said that the elephant might have died due to indigestion as jackfruit seeds were found in its dung collected from the spot.
