Election Commission (EC) would take action against its officials if specific allegation of favoritism is raised against them.
“We will take action against election officials if any specific allegation of partiality is raised against them. Moreover, if any contestant failed to submit his nomination paper for the negligence of returning officials, the victim can seek solution to EC or court,” Election Commissioner Md Rafikul Islam told newsmen, reports BSS.
Rafikul Islam said no electoral code of conduct was violated through the meeting between Prime Minister and former military officials at Ganobhaban recently.
“They (former military officials) came, called on Prime Minister, and extended their support towards her. So far I understand, I don’t think the code of conduct was violated by this,” he added.
“But no election campaign can be run from Ganobhaban and Bangabhaban, if it is done, it will be violation of electoral code of conduct and we will take action against it,” Rafikul Islam further said.
