The Election Commission (EC) is going to hold meeting with 23 ministries and departments of the government on the overall election management and preparations before declaring the election schedule in the first week of November.
To be chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda the meeting will be held at 11:00am at Nirbachan Bhaban on October 31. Four election commissioners, EC secretary, senior EC officials, secretaries and representatives from the ministries and departments will also attend the meeting.
A deputy secretary of EC on Saturday told Bangladesh Post that already the commission has sent letters to the respective ministries and departments for attending the meeting on election management and preparations for the declaration of the polls schedule in the first week of November.
“The commission will sit with Home Ministry, Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh Bank, Public Administration Ministry and Education Ministry along with other ministries and departments to discuss the plans for holding the next parliamentary polls,” he added.
EC officials said the meeting will discuss all matters relevant to sending electoral equipments to the parliamentary constituencies, deployment of law enforcement agencies, loan defaulters and board examinations.
The commisAsion will organise a fair on electronic voting machines (EVM) in the capital on November 12 and 13. Meanwhile EVM fairs are currently being held in eight divisions.
