As a part of taking preparation for the 11th parliamentary polls, the Election Commission (EC) is going to finalise the list of poll centres for 300 constituencies of National Parliament.
In this regard, the commission has sent letters to all its offices across the country asking to prepare and send the draft list of poll centres, an EC official told Bangladesh Post.
The commission sent the letter signed by EC’s assistant secretary Roushan Ara Begum on Thursday.
Seeking anonymity, a deputy secretary of EC told Bangladesh Post that the EC would have more than 40,000 polling centres for the next polls.
The number of poll centres and booths will increase as the number of voters has increased also.
As per the EC’s election roadmap, the commission will publish the list of the centres by August 2018. After publishing the list, the EC will review complaints, if any, and fix it.
The EC will then finalise the draft list and publish a gazette before announcement of election schedule. The gazette list will be sent to registered political parties.
After sending the list, the commission will publish the draft list of poll centres on August 5.
The Last date of submitting any complaints regarding the draft polling centres. The commission will solve the demands and complaints by August 30.
The EC will finales the list of polling centres by September.
