The Dhaka University authorities on Thursday held a dialogue with different student organizations to discuss the issue of elections to Dhaka University Central Student Union or (DUCSU) and hall unions.
The meeting was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus. Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman chaired the meeting. Representatives of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, Bangladesh Chhatra Union and some other student organsiations joined the view-exchange meeting. They placed their opinions and recommendations over the DUCSU polls.
Earlier, the DU authorities sent invitation letters to the active student organisations on the campus for the view-exchange meeting regarding the amendment of the existing DUCSU constitution. The authorities also requested the organisations to present their recommendations in written regarding the amendment of the existing DUCSU constitution.
Meanwhile, a five-member committee was formed on Friday to take suggestions from student organisations.
Former chief of Human Rights Commission Prof Dr Md Mizanur Rahman is head of the committee. The other members of the committee are Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Dr Md Rahmat Ullah, Dr Zeenat Huda and Dr Supriya Saha. Besides the five-member committee, Deputy Registrar Md Moniruzzaman is serving as member secretary of the committee.
