Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said BNP chief and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia was returned to jail as doctor’s certified that she was fit to serve her term in prison, reports BSS.
“She was sent to the jail after medical examination of her health by doctors,” he told the state news agency hours after Begum Zia was released from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital to be taken to the old Dhaka Central Jail.
Begum Zia was admitted to the hospital on October 6 following a High Court order as she is serving a 10-year prison term in two graft cases involving two charities, named after her husband slain president Ziaur Rahman.
On her return, the ex-premier was produced before a special court set up located at the old jail complex at Nazimuddin Road.
