As much as we want the newlyweds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh to grace the screen together looks like it’s not happening soon.
According to Deccan Chronicle, Deepika will not be sharing the screen with Ranveer in ‘83’.
“‘83’ is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it,” the source said.
Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83’ follows how, under newly-appointed captain Dev, the Indian cricket team defeated West Indies in the final of the World Cup in 1983. It tracks the coming-of-age of not just a cricketing team, but of a young nation in the eyes of the world.
The newlyweds have previously worked together in three Sanjay Bhansali films ‘Ram Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’.
