Renowned Indian researcher and artist Debajit Bandopadhyay was honoured with the Munier Choudhury Padak and playwright-director Pantha Shahriar was awarded the Mohammed Zakaria Smriti Padak on 29 November at the studio theatre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).
The programme was chaired by Ferdousi Mazumder and eminent author and scholar Syed Manzoorul Islam was present as special guest. The welcoming speech was delivered by Ramendu Majumdar.
At the second half of the programme, there was a musical performance by Debajit Bandopadhyay. Apon Ahsan was the host whereas Maruf Kabir and Tropa Majumdar read out the honorary certificates.
From 1989 till last year, the following have been given the Munier Choudhury Padak:
Mohammed Zakaria, Amalendu Biswas (posthumous), Abdullah Al-Mamun, Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, Syed Jamil Ahmed, Ramendu Majumdar, Muktadhara, Syed Ahmed, Ferdousi Mazumder, Syed Shamsul Haque, Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, Nasir Uddin Yousuf, Selim Al Din, Ali Zaker, Nikhil Sen, Asaduzzaman Nur, Zia Haider, Maloy Bhowmik, Partha Pratim Majumder, Abdus Selim, Manoj Mitra, Aranyak Natya Dal, Liakat Ali Lucky, Mrittika Chakma, M Hamid, Keramat Mawla and Israfil Shahin.
To engaging talented youths the Mohammed Zakaria Smriti Padak has been given to Ahmed Iqbal Haider, Mannan Heera, Shimul Yusuf, Thandu Raihan, Khaled Khan, Debprasad Debnath, Nasirul Haque Khokon, Masum Reza, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Fayez Zahir, Jaglul Alam, Subhasish Sinha, Babul Biswas, Theatrewala, Sudip Chakraborty, Samina Lutfa Nitra, Irin Parvin Lopa, Akhtaruzzaman, Abhijit Sengupta and Ruma Modak.
