The Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) arranged a day-long a ‘Pitha Festival’ in the city’s Kalabagan on Saturday.
A variety of traditional pithas, including Bhapa, Chitoi, Patishapta, Mug Pakon, Pua, Puli, were showcased in the event. Sides of Mashed spices and meat have also been put on display.
Dr Gowher Rizvi, international affairs advisor to the prime minister, attended the event as the chief guest with WEAB President Nasreen Fatema Awal in the chair. Former FBCCI president Abdul Matlub Ahmad and WEAB’s vice-president Salma Masud were also present at the event. Dr Gowher Rizvi lauded WEAB’s efforts to give women a platform to contribute to the country.
He said that possibilities are endless for such an enterprise. He stressed significance of organisations like WEAB for individual designers.
Nasreen Fatema Awal spoke about procedures WEAB follows to support the entrepreneurs from Dhaka and other regions.
“WEAB never marks up prices of products sent by the entrepreneurs and designers,” she said.
The festival was arranged co-hosted by Pragati Insurance Limited and Lal Teer Seed Limited.
