Chandpur is one of the leading agro-based river basins in the country. In Chandpur, the cultivation and production target of different crops has been set in the upcoming Rabi 2018-2019.
Rice, jute, chilli, sugarcane, wheat, potato, betel leaf, betel nut, various types of pulses, yellow onions, garlic, etc. are coming to an end in the Chandpur cultivation and production.
Target of cultivation of boro and other crops in the current Rabi season of 8 upazilas of Chandpur district has been set up. In the meantime, the farmers took necessary measures to prepare their land for cultivation, but the situation in the field was very devastating in the last 2 day’s rain .
According to information available by the Chandpur Agricultural Extensibility Department, Boro cultivation in the 61, 560 hectares of land and target of 2 lac 46 ,276 M T rice targets has been set in this fiscal year.
In the local level, 3 9 37 hectares local & 6306 hectares hybrid improved yielding for this year and the target of 2 lakh 45 thousand 6 thousand 5 MT rice production target is set.
Among other Rabi crops, potato cultivation in 10,690 hectares of land and production target is 2,4,460 Mt. Wheat cultivation is 98 hectares and production target is 3,232 hectares. Vegetables is cultivated in 5,200 hectares and production target is 1 lakh 8 thousand 629 mt.
Production of 6000 hectares of land and cultivation of 55 thousand 6 44 Mt of paize, soybean cultivation in 2,116 hectares of land and production target of 3,766 Mt.
Onion cultivation of 1,020 hectares of land and production of 11,220 Mt, chilli 2,215 hectares of land is estimated to be 3,633 mt. The target of mustard cultivation is 3,5 85 hectares and 4, 625 Mt of production. The target of sugarcane cultivation is 6 71 hectares and 32, 3 76 mt of production. The target of cultivating garlic is 5 80 hectares and 4,350 metric tons of production.
Assistant General Manager of Agrani Bank Gita Rani Majumdar said in a query, “The bank has given agricultural credit to those who have land and cultivate it themselves. The land owner will get the loan even though he is certified.
There are also targets for cultivation of garlic, coriander, ginger, khira, melons, khesari, mung, watermelon and sugarcane. It is known that the farmers are now taking extensive preparations in these cultivars.
An official of the Department of Agriculture said, “They can be encouraged by using new technologies or suggestions in the past. If the project is taken for the development of Char, then the quality of life of the animals will improve and the food production will increase.
In fact, Chandpur is an agricultural based river area due to extensive cultivation of Rabi crops. On the basis of her, three jute mills were developed at one time. As a result of extensive river erosion, widespread widespread rise in the land of Meghnanda has become a huge soybean, masoor, chilli, rice and jute cultivation. Besides, livestock breeding and vegetables are being produced.
The Meghna Dhanagoda irrigation project was built in 1964 with the Chandpur irrigation project and in 1978 of 22 unions of Matlab. In continuation of that, Chandpur is still known as Agriculture Chief District.
