The 10th match of Bangladesh Premier League features Comilla Victorians and Rajshahi Kings on Friday.
Comilla Victorians faced the biggest defeat against Rangpur Riders in their previous game due to lack of runs from the top and middle order batsmen, scoring only 63 runs for 10 wickets, in 16.2 overs. Even after their horrible loss against Rangpur they in third because of better net run-rate. They would like to field the same playing XI, as there are no other options to select from the bench.
On the other hand, Rajshahi Kings showed their all-round performance against Khulna Titans after losing their first match. They finally got off the mark with a convincing seven wicket victory over Khulna Titans in their previous game. Even after their victory they are placed second bottom of the table. They had a fabulous last game as they restricted Khulna Titans to only 117 runs in 20 overs, and they would never mind to play with the same playing XI against Comilla.
Comilla coach Mohammad Salahuddin said that the onus is on the local players to come up with the good.
“Our local batsmen are more used to the conditions since they play here a lot. If they can score then it will be an advantage for our foreign batsmen. Tamim was amongst the runs in the first game against Sylhet Sixers before he was run-out but the whole batting lineup collapsed against Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and his Rangpur Riders team.
“We have a long batting lineup so if we start well then I feel we can score big runs,” he said. Tamim Iqbal and especially Imrul Kayes, two of Comilla’s stalwarts have failed to fire in the tournament so far. “In the whole tournament, the locals have not been doing well. In the previous tournaments, the locals played a big role but that hasn’t been the case this time. I think they will adjust themselves quickly,” he opined.
Comilla Victorians won 3 of the last 4 between these two sides. Comilla have won 5 of their last 10 completed T20 matches. Rajshahi Kings have won 4 of their last 10 completed T20 matches. The team batting second won the last 98 out the last 187 completed matches played at Dhaka .
Comilla Victorians and Rajshahi Kings have played each other 4 times since 2010. Comilla Victorians won 3 times and Rajshahi Kings 1 times. These two teams drew a series 1-1 in 2017. 187 T20 matches have been played at Dhaka’s Mirpur Stadium since 2010. The next section will examine those matches.
On the other hand, Chittagong Vikings placed the third position with two points from two matches while Rajshahi Kings stand at sixth position with two points playing the same number of outings.
