Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Peoples Theater Association in a joint collaboration hosted the event ‘Shaheed Minar Cleanliness Programme’ at Shaheed Minar on 13 January. In addition to the above organisations, several educational institutions also took part in the event which was inaugurated by Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General, BSA and founder of Peoples Theater Association.
The day began with singing of the national anthem at 9am. After that, students from the educational institutions, volunteers of BSA and Peoples Theater Association took part in the cleanliness programme.
At 10am, a ten minute of silence was observed to pay homage to the fallen martyrs and later students and members of the organizations laid wreaths at the memorial. This was followed by a cultural program and an art competition for children. A dance troupe from BSA displayed their performances with the songs ‘Buker Moddhey Akash’ and ‘Mongol Hok Ei Shotokey’. The program also included song performances from child artists Fariha Khaldun, Sadia Shemonti, Meher Zaman, Shejuti and Srabonti and an acrobatic performance by child acrobats. The day’s event was coordinated by Tamanna Tithi and Abdullah Biplob.
At 2pm, a workshop on children’s theater was held at the National Theater seminar room at the BSA premise. BSA DG Liaquat Ali Lucky attended the workshop as the chief instructor which ended at 5pm with participation from 60 child artistes.
