A class six student was allegedly strangled to death in Jhenidah. Police recovered the body from his house in Jamdah area on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Samilul Alam, 12, son of Alamgir Hossain, ex chairman of Kalicharanpur union in Jhenidah. He was studying in class six in Jhenidah government boys’ high school.
Jhenidah Sadar police station officer in charge Amdadul Haque Sheikh said Samiul was in his house alone on Wednesday afternoon. The miscreants entered the house and killed him by hanging. They also stole gold ornaments and other belongings from the house.
Shahida Parvin, a school teacher arrived at the home in the evening to tutor him and started calling to be let in, to no response. Finding no other alternative, she entered the house from the back and found the child dead on the floor. Later police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
Police could not immediately detect the reason behind the killing of the minor boy. They are preparing for filing a case, the police said.
