The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHTs) is adjusted vulnerable to leprosy following launching of the CHTs leprosy control programme in the region, said civil surgeon (in-charge) Dr. Ruhee Bonani.
The disease attacked 160, including nine children, he added. He observed that creating mass-awareness about sign and symptoms of leprosy and free treatment of the disease are crucial to build a leprosy-free society.
To this end, synergic effort is needed so that all the leprosy
cases are detected early as the disease is curable. Besides, the treatment is free of cost in all upazila health complexes and other binary and tertiary hospitals.
