The district will need 15,99,000 thousand text books in January 2019, the beginning of the next academic year.
The district primary education office said that free of cost books, for the students from pre-primary to fifth grade, have started reaching different upazilas of the district against the demand submitted by the office.
According to information from primary education department, the district needs 2,12,772 textbooks for 70,244 students of class 1; 2,11,629 textbooks for 70,043 students of class 2; 40,01, 601 textbooks for 66,934 students of class 3; 3,00,093 textbooks for 63,197 students of class 4; and 3,93,846 textbooks for 65,000 students of class 5 are needed.
District primary education officer Mohammad Shahbuddin told the Bangladesh Post: “All demanded books will arrive by this month. We have been instructed by Education Department to reach the books to every primary school in the district by December.”
”We are acting according to the instruction to celebrate the ‘Book Festival 2019’ in time in Chandpur,” he added.
Mentionable, in Chandpur, there are 3,37,282 students in 1,998 primary schools. Of these, 1,155 government schools have been established.
