Bogura office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Deputy Chief Engineer and in-charge of Shantahar Buffer Go-down of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Md. Nobir Uddin Khan and Adamdighi upazila unit convener of Sramik League Md. Rashadul Islam Raja.
The ACC filed the case against them on charge of embezzling more than Tk 153 crore 36 lakh.
Md. Aminul Islam Assistant Director (AD) of ACC filed the case with Adamdighi police station on Wednesday morning. In the case, he alleged that more than 52 thousand 342 metric tonnes of fertilizer were sold in black-market from July 2014 to June 2016.
Md. Anwerul Haque, Deputy Director (DD), said that during the investigation, ACC officials found that Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) selected Md. Rashadul Islam Raja as handling agent to pile fertilizer in Shantahar go-down. Former In-Charge of the go-down received huge quantity of country-made and imported fertilizer during the period and sold it in black market in connivance with Md. Rashadul Islam Raja.
During the investigation, it was found that Md. Nobir Uddin Khan received more than 68 thousand 822 metric tonnes of urea and imported fertilizer to stock in the go-down, but Nobir Uddin Khan and Rashadul Islam Raja sold 52 thousand 342 metric tonnes of fertilizer in black market through preparing fake documents.
Earlier, the ACC filed another case against three persons including Md. Nobir Uddin Khan for embezzling more than Tk 11 crore selling around four thousand metric tonnes of fertilizer in black market.
