The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is trying to destabilise the election atmosphere as per their design to make grounds to quit the election fearing defeat.
“The party (MNP) is now trying to make Tabligh Jamaat’s internal conflict as an issue as they do not have any organisational capacity to wage any movement,” Quader said while addressing a press briefing at the AL president’s Dhanmondi political office in the city.
When asked about BNP’s allegation against the government of being out to annihilate the Zia family, he said, “The court and the EC have taken actions against Khaleda Zia and BNP leaders. Awami League didn’t influence them in any away.”
“History says that the Zia family was engaged in all kinds of conspiracy to vanish the Bangabandhu family. Who had sent the killers of Bangabandhu abroad through the indemnity ordinance and who brought the Fifth Amendment to the constitution? It’s BNP that did it.”

Quader went on to say, “They were also engaged in the August 15 killing. They rewarded the murderers again and reinstated them in politics. Even they tried to kill Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and its senior leaders through the 21st August grenade attack during their tenure.“
Replying to query the AL general secretary said BNP has set a record in nomination business.
He said many aspirants seeking party nomination to contest the national poll gave huge amount of money to their party’s senior leaders but they didn’t get the party tickets.
“Being failed to get nomination, these aspirants are now looking for the BNP senior leaders. As a result, the leaders who took away money from the aspirants are on the run,” Quader, also the Road, Transport and Bridges Minister, said.
Replying to another query about the cancellation of nominations of many BNP heavyweights he said AL’s 278 candidates’ nomination got validity while 555 of BNP.
“It does mean more BNP candidates’ nomination got validity than that of the AL,” he said.
He said the final list of the grand alliance candidates for the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls would be declared today or tomorrow.

“We’ll be able to finalize our list for the next polls in a day or two . . . Our candidates’ names will be disclosed jointly,” he said
He said a cordial relation still prevails among the partners of the AL-led alliance. And there is no distrust and trouble as well.”
In reply to BNP’s remark, the AL general secretary said Zia family tried to destroy AL in many ways, but AL never believes in the politics of annihilation.
Replying to a query on the replacement of Jatiya Party secretary general’s post, Quader said, “We have no interference here. It’s the internal matter of Jatiya Party. I don’t want to make any comment to this end.”
Replying to another question, the minister said, “Dr Kamal is doing everything as per the directives of BNP leader Tarique Rahman. He (Kamal) has no power and their nomination process has become a puppet show.”

About party’s rebel candidates, the AL general secretary said a committee has been formed to oversee the issue and they would come under control as the committee started working on it.”
AL Organizing Secretary Enamul Hauqe Shameem, Mejbah Uddin Siraj, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Abdus Sabur, Central Executive Committee Member SM Kamal Hossain and Anwar Hossain were present in the conference.
