Bangladesh Nationalist Party has submitted a list of its arrested leaders and activists to the prime minister’s office.
According to BNP, the leaders and activists in the list have been arrested in over thousand cases in the last two months.
The party has submitted the list after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the first dialogue with Jatiya Oikyafront at Ganobhaban on November 1 asked BNP leaders to send the list of the arrested persons to her office.
Saiful Alam Tipu, assistant office secretary of BNP, submitted the list which mentions that 10,298 of its leaders and activists were arrested, 46,748 made accused and 1,046 cases were filed against its men from September 1 till Wednesday.
While handing over the list to PM’s Personal Secretary Abdur Rahim, Tipu said it was a partial list.
During the dialogue on Thursday, leaders of BNP, one of the components of the alliance, inquired over the arrest of opposition leaders and activists. In response to the query, the PM asked for a list of the arrestees and said action would be taken after investigation.
Then, Fakhrul asked, “Where should I send the list? Your office?”
The PM replied: “Send them to my office.”
Meanwhile, the newly formed opposition political alliance Oikyafront on Wednesday morning sat in its second round of discussion with Awami League-led ruling alliance over the upcoming general elections.
